Enterprise business intelligence is one of the keys to staying ahead in today's economy. However, success no longer means accumulating the most information. Rather, success today is achieved by knowing how to effectively use and manage this information.
One central concern in collecting enterprise business intelligence is productivity. Until recently, the only way to compile quality intelligence was to constantly scan new sources and trade publications in search of relevant data on customers, competitors, trends and market conditions. The investment of resources needed to collect enterprise business intelligence was extraordinarily high, and there was no assurance that the search would be comprehensive. Even if appropriate resources were allocated, the difficulty in adequately processing relevant information was immense and there was no guarantee that critical bits of information would find its way into the hands of everyone in the organization that needed to see them.
